UNLOCK THE VAULT

  • The Sub Vault Season runs until November 30th each year.

Competitors can sign up at any time throughout the season.

    End of Season Timeline

    November 30th: Season Ends

    • No matches after this date are eligible for the current season.

    December 7th: Entry Deadline

    • Competitors have 7 days after the season ends to submit wins for matches that took place on or before November 30th.

December 14th: Challenge Deadline and Champion Announcements

    • Competitors have 7 days after the entry deadline to challenge any entries. Category leaders on December 14th are crowned Sub Vault Champions and awarded the seasonal prizes.

  • You are required to enter the following details when activating your subscription:

    1. Name

    2. Gym

    3. Gender

    4. Training Level

    • Amateur (White/Blue Belt, or less than 4 years training)

    • Professional (Purple/Brown/Black Belt or more than 4 years training)

You may change any of these details within 24 hours of signing up. Any changes after this will require admin approval.

Both you and your opponent must have an active subscription on the date of the match to “Submit A Win”. It is your responsibility to confirm your opponent is an active subscriber before the match takes place.

Subscriptions can be activated or cancelled at any time. If a subscription is cancelled:

    • Your entries remain visible on the platform and in the Match Library.

    • You will be removed from the active leaderboard rankings.

    • You will be unable to submit new wins or challenges.

    • If you resubscribe, your previous entries remain on record but you must meet the minimum submission requirements within your active subscription period to re-qualify for leaderboard ranking.

There is a 7-day grace period following payment failure to rectify any issues and maintain your active subscription.

  • There are four categories: Male Gi, Male No Gi, Female Gi, and Female No Gi.

There are no divisions by belt, weight class, or experience level. All competitors compete on the same leaderboard within their category.

You can submit entries to both Gi and No-Gi at any stage throughout the season.

To appear on the Monthly Leaderboard:

You must submit a minimum of three submission wins in that category in a calendar month. Monthly leaderboards reset at the end of each month.

To appear on the Annual Leaderboard:

You must submit a minimum of five submission wins in that category across the season. The annual leaderboard resets at the end of the season.

Leaderboards are ranked by lowest average submission time; your three fastest submissions count on the monthly leaderboard, your five fastest on the annual leaderboard.

In the event of identical average submission times, ranking is determined by:

    (1) total number of wins entered

    (2) if still equal, the competitor who first achieved the minimum qualifying submissions that period is ranked higher.

You may submit additional wins outside your fastest times for display on your profile, though they won't affect your ranking.

  • You must enter your own submission wins on the “Submit A Win” page.

Sub Vault accepts two types of submission:

    1. Existing Competition Results

Submission wins achieved at any sanctioned Jiu Jitsu competition; regional, national, international or invitational, are all eligible. In-house competitions are not eligible. Wins against competitors from your own gym are accepted in competition results.

    2. Arranged Matches

Matches arranged directly between two subscribers on an individual basis. Arranged matches must be submission-only format with a maximum duration of 5 minutes. Wins against competitors from your own gym are not accepted in arranged matches.

    For both submission types:

    • You must select your opponent from the active subscriber list when submitting your win.

    • Both you and your opponent must hold active subscriptions on the date of the match.

    • Full match footage must be included with each entry via YouTube link, uninterrupted from start to finish, so that submission time can be independently verified if required.

    • If there is insufficient evidence to uphold an entry, the entry will be removed and you will lose a Challenge.

    • Videos can be posted to YouTube as "unlisted" but all match footage will be available to view in the Sub Vault Match Library.

You may edit any detail of an entry within 24 hours. After 24 hours, changes require admin approval and entries are open to challenges from other competitors.

  • Every active subscriber is allowed three (3) challenges per season. Challenges reset at the start of each new season.

Entries can be challenged after 24 hours based on any of the following info that you believe to be incorrect, or against Sub Vault rules. Challenges can be submitted at any point after this until the December 14th deadline.

    1. Opponent Selected

    2. Date of Match

    3. Submission Win Time

    4. Legitimacy of Match or Submission

Challenges are manually reviewed by the Sub Vault team.

You can lose Challenges in two ways:

    1. You challenge another competitor's entry and it is upheld.

    2. One of your own entries is overturned, either through a challenge or admin decision.

If there is insufficient evidence to uphold an entry in the video provided, the entry will be removed and the submitting competitor will lose a Challenge.

  • Monthly
At the end of every month, the category leader in each of the four categories wins the Monthly Leader Bonus.

Monthly prizes start at €150 per category (or preferred currency equivalent) and grow as the Sub Vault community grows. Current prize levels are published on the platform and updated as sign-ups increase.

If a competitor is leading both Gi and No Gi categories at the end of the month, they win both Monthly Leader Bonuses.

Monthly prizes are paid out on the 7th of the following month. Make sure you submit your wins before this time to be eligible.

    Overall
Following the end of the season, the top three competitors in each category win the following prizes:
    1st - €2000
    2nd - €1000
    3rd - €500
    (or preferred currency equivalent)

A competitor may hold active rankings across multiple categories and is eligible to win prizes in each category outright.

Annual Champions are crowned on December 14th following the resolution of all end-of-season challenges.

  • Sub Vault developed from a unique match concept which has been tested on multiple MMA shows, with the traditional match timer replaced by a cash countdown ticker. Competitors win whatever is on the clock when they get the tap.

Standalone Sub Vault events are being planned with active subscribers and category leaders best placed for an invite.

Ultimately, Sub Vault developed from a desire to increase excitement in Jiu Jitsu and reward athletes for submission wins. Everything that we are planning and doing is what that goal in mind.
